Current Projects

The Alleyway Projects

Claremont Influencers keep our alleyways tidy all year round.   This is an ongoing project that helps to improve the area and gives residents a sense of pride.

Raid The Larder

Claremont Ten Community Influencers five up their time every Thursday morning to help people in a less fortunate position.  The run “Raid the Larder” project  giving food and toiletries, advice and a listening ear to the Homeless Community and people on a very low income. Donations of food, toiletries, clothing and money are always welcome.

Community Breakfast

Another project to help people less fortunate is a monthly Breakfast where Community Influencers serve the homeless with breakfast but more importantly try and help them solve any immediate issues.

Learn & Grown Children’s Project

This is a weekly event where Children of various ages access the Centre with their parent of guardian and work on various projects from cook & eat, family interaction, homework, learning where food comes from and mixing with families of different ethnicity.

Knit & Knatter

A group of like minded women doing what each enjoys chatting, knitting, crafts, sewing and of course having a snack.

Functional Fitness

Being aware of our health problems doing Pilates on a weekly basis with our community influencers and residents.  This event helps the community to bond both physically and mentally.

Walking Football

A massive success story our Walking Football has really taken off in the community. Over 30 residents are attending every week all wearing their vests promoting People’s Health Trust logo’s. This project has brought together the men in the community helping them bond and feel healthier.

Men’s Club

A group of marginalised men coming together over a coffee and discussing various issues relating specifically to their problems. They are also gaining a degree of independence and are more able to tackle social issues.

Weekly Social Days for the Over 55’s

A weekly luncheon club for the over 55’s in the community also involving people in their seventies plus with one lady who is over 100 years young.  Residents who are getting older in life sometimes feel socially isolated and various health issues become a problem. This day helps them to become more included in the neighbourhood and make new friends.  It has also become a bit of a talking shop for various local issues.

Claremont Litter Pickers

A group of likeminded residents from the area who go out regularly and do a litter pick on the streets of Claremont Ten and its surroundings. They hope it sends the message that if you drop something pick it up and they are finding that children are particularly receptive to this message repeating it too the parents.

Claremont Growers & Community Garden Group

Claremont Growers have joined forces with Claremont Gardiners to run a look after the enclosed Garden at Claremont Park. Together they have made big improvements in the short term and have lots of new ideas to implement in the future with the older community, children and parents.

Wednesday Activity Day

This is a very vibrant group of people who have various issues from learning difficulties to complex needs. They access the centre either individually or with support staff to meet friends and take part in various activities of their own choice.

Rubbish Amnesty

Organised twice a year by Community Influencers to help try and keep the area clean by getting rid of bulky items that would normally sit in front gardens as a lot of residents do not have the money to pay the Council to come and pick these items up.

Day Trips

These are organised on a regular basis to thank volunteers for their help over the year or too improve their knowledge base on a subject they are interested in.

Family Picnic Days in the Community Garden

Organised by Claremont Growers to help families get to know one another and introduce children in the art of growing their own vegetables and plants.
