We have been proud winners of the Blackpool in Bloom for the past 3 years for our streets and alleyways projects.

Our environmental steering group and residents have cleared tons of rubbish and de-weeded and cleaned up alleyways over the last three years and the rubbish has been replaced by beautiful, colourful planters full of summer plants and this has had a big impact in the area cutting down on rubbish and fly tipping in the alleyways that has been transformed.

Litter picking days take place every 6 weeks throughout Claremont as our residents strive to keep Claremont tidy.

Rubbish amnesty’s are held twice a year with skips in various locations in Claremont usually in January and then in June. Let all our residents become a P.A.L. of Claremont and the Ten Streets. Pledge to pick up one piece of litter each week in the Claremont area and recruit a neighbour, a friend, or a family member to do the same. PICK. A. LITTER., and let’s make Claremont Ward the cleanest in Blackpool.

Family engagement days are held at Claremont Park with free fun fair rides for all the family, bouncy castles, face painters, balloon artists, are very well attended with over 500 residents attending the events and this give us the opportunity to engage on a grand scale with the community to promote the work of the Local conversation and recruit people  for other projects and the steering group.

From our last engagement day in June, we recruited for the walking football which is now thriving and up running with more residents joining every week. We also got some volunteers for our community garden and this group now meets up every week and as we have more residents involved in the community gardens which will allows us to open the gardens for family picnics, school groups, and community groups.

Residents also signed up for weekly functional fitness sessions and we have had some good feedback from the residents who are taking part in this project.

A quote from Jackie “Brilliant Fitness class, really hard but very enjoyable, can’t wait for next week.”

A resident who will remain anonymous has requested oxygen and a good looking paramedic to administer TLC after each fitness class, although the steering group thought this was a brilliant idea, unfortunately our appeal for good looking paramedic has not been successful. So if there is anyone out there who fits the bill please contact us.
